PULLED OVER FOR RUNNING A RED LIGHT
Don’t admit guilt: Avoid saying things like "I didn’t see the light" or "I was in a hurry." You don’t have to admit to the violation. You can simply say, "I’ll need to review the situation" or stay silent.
Follow instructions: Comply with the officer's requests (license, registration, proof of insurance) without delay. Don’t make any sudden movements that might make the officer uncomfortable.
Ask questions (if needed): If you're unclear on why you were stopped, politely ask for clarification. But don't argue about the ticket on the spot.
Decide whether to contest: If you disagree with the officer's observation, you can choose to contest the ticket in court later. However, don’t argue about it with the officer—save it for court if needed.
Be polite and accept the ticket: If the officer issues a ticket, accept it politely. You have the right to challenge it in court later, but now is not the time for back-and-forth.
